KaizerChiefs have issued a statement on Wednesday afternoon that after [internal]reviews conducted by Chiefs Chairman Kaizer Motaung and the club’s management, the team has decided to part ways with coach Ernst Middendorp with immediate effect. This does not come as a surprise to many Khosi fans as it has been an open secret that Middendorp will be shown the door and the end of the season. According to the reports, this would have still happened even if Chiefs won the league on weekend.

KaizerChiefs fans had a problem with the fact that Amakhosi had a very predictable style of play, which was simply relying on the set pieces and aerial balls towards Samir Nukovic and hope for the goal. In an event that another team manages to prevent these set pieces, Chiefs would really struggle. Middendorp did not seem to have plan B even when he was under serious pressure.
There is some unconfirmed rumor that Chiefs might be interested in employing the same technical team as their rivals Mamelodi Sundowns, with 3 fully coaches working together. The reports are stating that this technical team might be led by Gavin Hunt, with Owen Da Gama and Benni McCarthy as the assistant coaches.
