Orlando Pirates suffered 2-0 loss to the hosted, Golden Arrows at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Pule Sydney Mmodi joined Arrows from GladAfrica Championship side Uthongathi at the start of the season scored at the 40th and 67th minute.
Pirates were given a penalty 15 minutes after the restart when Lindokuhle Mtshali handled in the area, but Thembinkosi Lorch failed to work Mlungwana with a wayward strike from the spot.
Uthongathi are Pirates’ next opponents, as they kick off their Nedbank Cup campaign at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
Arrows host AmaZulu in their round of 32 game.
