SuperSport United were held to a 0-0 draw by Marumo Gallants in a DStv Premiership match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Tuesday night.
The draw saw Matsatsantsa climb up to the second spot on the league standings and they will now play host to AmaZulu FC on Sunday in another league game.
Bahlabane Ba Ntwa, on the other hand, are now placed 13th on the table and they will be away to Pyramids of Egypt in the CAF Confederation Cup match on Sunday.
Matsatsantsa were looking to attack through the wings and Kegan Johannes had a chance to set up an unmarked Bradley Grobler in the 21st minute, but the ball was blocked.
Bahlabane Ba Ntwa finished the first-half the stronger of the two teams, but they couldn’t seriously test Ricardo Goss in the SuperSport goal-posts and the score was 0-0 during the halftime break.
Gallants were the better side after the restart with Goss forced to make two decent saves within the opening 10 minutes of the second-half as the hosts pushed for the opening goal.
Gavin Hunt decided to make changes as the SuperSport head coach introduced explosive winger Patrick Maswanganyi just before the hour-mark.
Matsatsantsa had a chance to snatch a late winning goal after being awarded a penalty with eight minutes left, but Grobler fired wide of the target from the spot-kick and the game ended in a 0-0 draw.
