Mamelodi Sundowns, has announced the appointment of Mathias Zangenberg as the Head of Physical Performance.
“The 2022/23 DSTV Premiership Champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, has announced the appointment of Mathias Zangenberg as the Head of Physical Performance working across the club to align the methodology of physical training of the Senior Team, Ladies Team and Academy teams,” read the club statement.
“Mathias, who is a UEFA A-license holder has worked as a physical and conditioning coach for over 15 years and has been a member of the technical team with some of the major Denmark Superliga sides including FC Nordsjælland and has gained invaluable experience from the team’s participation in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League. https://a9c543f4120941e172a215f11dc061a3.safeframe.googlesyndication.com/safeframe/1-0-40/html/container.html
“Before joining Masandawana, Mathias was with AGF Fodbold and he participated in the recent FIFA World Cup in Qatar as the physical coach of the Ghana national team. Mathias has a Masters Degree specializing in human physiology from the University of Copenhagen.”
Sundowns’ Sporting Director, Flemming Berg welcomed the new addition, said: “His knowledge, experience and work ethic will assist in getting the first team to the next level and to make a clear strategy for physical training and injury prevention throughout the entire club.”
