Kaizer Chiefs and Cape Town City have reportedly agreed to the transfer of midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane, in principle, effective 1 July.
Quoting a source, SABC Sport reports that they have established Amakhosi will welcome back their former youth product to Naturena at the beginning of the 2023/23 season should all the finer details be ironed out in the coming weeks.
“It’s believed the clubs have reached a deal following talks that began in the final hours of the January transfer window even though it did not go through due to time constraints in negotiating a transfer fee,” reported the public broadcaster.
Mdantsane’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign, however, information gathered by SABC Sport reveals City have since exercised his one-year option to avoid losing him on a free contract and being able to sell him to Chiefs.
Contacted for comment, City chairman John Comitis confirmed Chiefs’ interest in the previous window and denied Amakhosi concluded a deal for July.
“I have spoken about Mdu in the past and yes we had a conversation with Chiefs in December, they had their chance and didn’t take it. The guy still has one more year with us beyond the current season and until such time that something changes I cannot keep talking about Mdu again,” Comitis told SABC Sport on Wednesday.
“He must still play the remainder of the season.”
