Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane admitted that Amakhosi were lucky to walk away with the maximum points in their game against Maritzburg United.
Amakhosi edged the Team of Choice 3-2 in a five-goal thriller at the Harry Gwala Stadium over the weekend, courtesy of a second half penalty that was converted by Yusuf Maart.
This was after Chiefs let Maritzburg back into the game after leading 2-0 in the first 10 minutes of the game only to
“I think we were fortunate to get maximum points. We believe we could have done better when we were leading two nil. Not so many teams manage to score two goals early here and get maximum points.
“We conceded easy goals, and we knew the team we were facing was going to be aggressive and wanted it more than us. Also, they are playing at home, and they are doing very well though they have been unfortunate in terms of getting the results.
The victory saw Amakhosi keep their dream of playing in the CAF Champions League next season alive.
Both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are two points behind second-placed SuperSport United, who sit on 39 points with seven games left to wrap up the season.
