Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Rulani Mokwena was full of praise for his side after their victory over Golden Arrows at Tuks Stadium on Saturday night.
A penalty goal by Peter Shalulile and an own goal by Siyavuya Ndlovu gave Sundowns a 2-1 win over Arrows. Pule Mmodi scored the consolation goal for Abafana Bes’thende.
“Firstly compliments to both teams I think they gave it a very good go, compliment to our players because they dug deep and gave a lot of effort and a lot of commitment,” Mokwena told SuperSport TV.
“We want to be a very difficult team to play against and the harder it is the better for us.”
Mokwena also explained the introuction of Teboho Mokoena, Erwin Saavedra and Neo Maema at the start of the second half.
“The game informed us of what we had to do, we struggled a little bit with retaining a bit of possession and because of that was mainly because of the structure, so we wanted to bring on Neo (Maema) to consolidate.
“Tebza (Teboho Mokoena) to consolidate, to have better structure in possession and when you have better structure you have better possibilities to retain possession and you have better possibilities also to counter-press and stop the counter-attacks.
“Because the front three was starting to cheat a bit more but good compliments to the team once again, compliments to the players, a very difficult team to beat this.
“The last three games have shown you, compliments to the coaching staff, compliments to the fans, congratulations to Mamelodi Sundowns.”
