Swallows FC coach Dylan Kerr believes his side should have been easily won their game against Royal AM had they taken the chances they created in the game.
The Dube Birds lost 1-0 to Thwihli Thwahla at Chatsworth Stadium on Sunday, thanks to a late goal scored by Elias Pelembe in the 95th minute.
“I’m frustrated, devastated and upset for the players,” Kerr told SuperSport TV. “It was a very good performance. We were unlucky, we did not deserve that. But that is the story of our lives. We dominate teams, they play counter-attacking football against us and all the chances we create, we have no end product.
“That is the story since I have been here. We do so well in areas where we can get behind defenders and it works. But that final decision, pass and run in and around the penalty-box, we never seem to pick out a white shirt out.
“Right at the death, to concede a goal like that is heart-breaking for the effort the players have put in today.”
The result leaves Swallows just a point above the relegation zone.
“It proved the energy and effort we put into training, but when it comes to games, you still have to put the ball in the back of the net.
“You have to beat a player, you have to pass to your own teammate to have a chance to shoot at goal. We let ourselves down again with that. We have done it the last 10 games I have been here.
“To win games you must score goals. The crosses, free-kicks and corners we had, and we didn’t have someone brave enough to out their head on the ball, to say, ‘I am going to score this goal’. It is very frustrating.”
Swallow and Royal AM will meet again on Friday, this time in the Nedbank Cup at the Dobsonville Stadium.
