Al Ahly coach Marcel Koller was full of praise for Percy Tau following his display in the win 2-0 win over Ghazl El-Mahalla
after the Bafana Bafana winger crowned his return to the starting XI with a goal.
Tau featured for the first time in Koller’s line-up and immediately found the back of the net in Al Ahly’s .
It was Tau’s first league goal since November 2021 and his first since a brace in the CAF Champions League semi-final against ES Setif in May.
“I knew that Tau could play as a striker and he played very well, but he wasn’t 100% fit yet due to him returning from an injury,” he said, as per Kingfut.
“Tau’s movement in the first half was excellent and his high pressure on the defenders was great. I was impressed with his performance.”
Al Ahly have started the new season with five wins from five league games and continue their quest for the first league title since 2021 against sixth-placed Al Ittihad on 12 December.
