LOSC Lille and Chelsea meet in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 second leg on Wednesday.
Fresh from winning the FIFA Club World Cup just a week earlier, holders Chelsea took control of the tie at Stamford Bridge. Kai Havertz’s header gave Thomas Tuchel’s side an early lead and Christian Pulišić added a second after the hour following a fine run from Player of the Match N’Golo Kanté.
Predicted line-ups
LOSC: Jardim; Zeki Çelik, Botman, Fonte, Tiago Djaló; Weah, André, Xeka, Bamba; Ben Arfa, David
Chelsea: Mendy; Chalobah, Silva, Rüdiger; Azpilicueta, Kanté, Kovačić, Alonso; Mount; Havertz, Lukaku
What the coaches say
Jocelyn Gourvennec, LOSC coach: “We played well in the first leg. We shared the possession, but offensively, we were not dangerous enough. We need to be more clinical in their half and make them defend in their own penalty area more.”
Thomas Tuchel, Chelsea manager: “LOSC will play an attacking 4-4-2, that is aggressive, fluid and direct. We have to be ready for that, but we are also confident in ourselves. It’s half-time right now, no match is decided by a 2-0 scoreline. The second half is tomorrow and we’ll have to produce another top performance.”
