Leandro Trossard’s stoppage-time goal earned Brighton & Hove Albion a 1-0 win at Brentford.
After an even start Ivan Toney came close with an ambitious lob that looped narrowly over the visitors crossbar.
Toney then headed over from Bryan Mbeumo’s cross before the Bees duo again combined, Mbeumo shooting over from the striker’s cutback.
Brighton lost Adam Webster to injury before Robert Sanchez saved from Vitaly Janelt at the end of a goalless first half.
Early in the second half David Raya saved comfortably from Jakub Moder, while Neal Maupay shot wide from Trossard’s cross as Brighton pushed for a winner.
That decisive strike arrived with time running out as Alexis Mac Allister found Trossard and the Belgian beat Raya to snatch all three points for the visitors.
Victory lifts Brighton up to third place with nine points.
A first defeat of the season – and in 16 matches across all competitions – puts Brentford in 10th place with five points.
