Erling Haaland seems likely to return as champions Manchester City host Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday.
The prolific Norwegian has missed two games with a combination of a foot injury and illness but is now back in training.
“He is much better, we will decide today [if he’s playing],” Guardiola said. “It’s a good step to start training and now we have training this afternoon and we will see.”
Asked what the decision will come down to, he added: “Himself, his opinion, the doctor’s opinion. If he’s good for 90 minutes, less than that…we will see after training.”
Fulham will be without Neeskens Kebano for several months after the winger sustained a ruptured Achilles in training.
Kebano is the only new injury issue for Fulham boss Marco Silva, with Layvin Kurzawa having trained with the team all week after a muscle problem.
Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno is realistic about the difficulty of Saturday’s match, but wants Fulham to try and spring a surprise at the Etihad.
“Of course, they will have more possession, but we want to play our game as well,” he told FFCtv. “We are very unpredictable – we can play long balls, we can play short, we are good on set-pieces. I think there is still a chance to surprise them and we just have to believe.”
