Pep Guardiola believes new striker Erling Haaland will bounce back after failing to score in Manchester City’s Community Shield defeat to Liverpool .
Haaland, who made his debut in the 3-1 defeat to the Reds at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, sent a golden opportunity over the bar with City chasing the game late on.
Guardiola admitted he was not worried by that miss and remains certain that Haaland will prove his credentials this season.
“He is strong,” said Guardiola at his post-match press conference.
“He missed it and another time he will put it in the net. It happened – it’s football. He had another goal disallowed because the ball was out of the line.
“He has this talent and he will do it. I am not concerned or worried about that.
“I would be happy if he scored and we win but we have a long season ahead of us. It is so intense.
“He is going to help us, I am pretty sure about that.”
