Ivan Toney’s first Premier League hat-trick earned Brentford a vital victory as they beat relegation rivals Norwich City 3-0 at Carrow Road.
Milot Rashica, Teemu Pukki and Joshua Sargent all had early chances in a bright start for Norwich, but instead Brentford went in front on 32 minutes.
Toney volleyed in at the far post post as Kristoffer Ajer flicked on a corner from Christian Eriksen, who made his first start for Brentford.
Toney doubled the Bees’ advantage seven minutes into the second half from the penalty spot, after Ben Gibson fouled Pontus Jansson.
The Brentford striker completed his treble with a second penalty six minutes later after being been brought down by Gibson.
Pukki grabbed a late consolation for Norwich, who were unable to prevent Brentford claiming a first win in nine league matches, leaving the Bees 15th on 27 points, six clear of the bottom three.
Norwich are 20th on 17 points, five from safety.
