Two early goals from Raul Jimenez and Leander Dendoncker helped Wolverhampton Wanderers claim a 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur which puts them within touching distance of the top four.
Jimenez put Wolves ahead on six minutes with a superb volley after Hugo Lloris had denied attempts from Dendoncker and Ruben Neves. It was Jimenez’s fourth goal in six matches against Spurs.
Dendoncker doubled the visitors’ lead on 18 minutes when he turned in following Daniel Podence’s shot which came back off the post.
Lloris denied Jimenez from adding a third before half-time.
Spurs improved in the second half but they could not prevent a third consecutive defeat for the first time under Antonio Conte.
Kane was denied twice by goalkeeper Jose Sa before Harry Winks’s deflected shot struck the outside of the post. Sa also kept out Cristian Romero’s late header.
Wolves move up to seventh place on 37 points, three points off fourth place with a match in hand. Spurs are one point worse off in eighth.
