Diego Llorente’s first-half strike earned Leeds United their first win of the season as they edged past Watford 1-0 at Elland Road.
The defender put Leeds in front after 18 minutes, poking in from close range after Watford were unable to clear Raphinha’s corner.
Leeds went close to doubling their advantage when Mateusz Klich shot over, while Ozan Tufan was unable to hit the target for Watford as it remained 1-0 at half-time.
Leeds continued to dominate possession after the break and came closest to doubling their lead when substitute Tyler Roberts clipped the crossbar.
The Llorente goal moved Leeds up to 16th on six points, one behind 14th-placed Watford.
