Leeds United have appointed Jesse Marsch as their new head coach after parting company with Marcelo Bielsa.
Pending international clearance, Marsch has signed a contract until June 2025 and becomes the third American to manage a club in the Premier League, after Bob Bradley and David Wagner.
Fight against relegation
Having been named MLS Coach of the Year in his home country in 2015, the 48-year-old won the Austrian Bundesliga and Austrian Cup with Red Bull Salzburg and was the head coach of German side RB Leipzig until December.
He takes over a Leeds side lying two points above the relegation zone.

Chief executive Angus Kinnear told the club’s official website: “Whilst the short-term objective for Jesse is obvious, we believe he has the courage and ambition to build on the strong foundations we have created over the last four years and elevate the performance of the club over the long-term.
“He had a great deal of success with New York Red Bulls and Red Bull Salzburg and has demonstrated during our many meetings that he is a great fit with the footballing culture of Leeds United.”
Director of Football Victor Orta added: “We have a long-term plan and firmly believe he can take Leeds United to the next level and are excited for what the future holds.”
Marsch will be in charge for Saturday’s trip to Leicester City.
