CAF News: The teams’ official training will take place this Saturday, May 22nd, one day before the opening match of the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations, Senegal 2021. But already, the delegations follow one another to recognize the tournament’s venue.
The main area of the Saly site is occupied by Ball Kids. They had a small adjustment session under the supervision of the competition’s General Coordinator before the tournament’s opening. This included a rehearsal of the flag bearers and other activities.
A short distance away, Morocco has just completed their second training session since their arrival in Saly. The Atlas Lions were pleased to test the sand and playing conditions of the site they will be operating on over the next few days.
The technical staff are satisfied even if there are still details to be worked out, both in terms of preparation and organization.
The Moroccans’ ambitions are clear: to do better than previous editions where they exited on the hands of Egypt. In 2016 and 2018, Morocco had to bow to the Pharaohs, and hopes to finally change the situation. This time, the two teams meet early in the group stage.
In a group B that also includes Seychelles and Mozambique, the Moroccans want to keep their fierce opponent at bay and that requires solid preparation.
The two training grounds at Saly are popular with participating teams. On its land, Senegal presents itself as the master of the place, yet its base is at the Jules François Bocandé Sports Center for Technical Development in Toubab Dialaw. There, Coach Ngalla Sylla keeps the same requirements.
The Teranga Lions coach strategy is to use the same technical scheme many times to ensure that his players have got it well. It’s noteworthy that Ngalla Sylla took Senegal to the top of African Beach Soccer, winning the title in 2018.
For the Ugandans, training is done in groups and with joy, in contrast with Senegalese seriousness.
The methods are different, despite the very inquisitive gaze of coach Salim Jamal Muwonge. Moreover, he does not hesitate to enter the playing field, if necessary, to explain what he really expects from his Sand Cranes.
So, whatever the style of each team, the truths will only be revealed during the competition. The show is about to begin, and our seven competing teams are set to cause a stir.
