CAF News – Mozambique coach Horácio Gonçalves recalled 25 players for two friendly matches against Lesotho and Eswatini, which will take place at Zimpeto Stadium in Maputo next June.
Most of the players recalled come from the U-20 national team that won COSAFA Cup last December and secured Mozambique’s first participation in the Total U-20 AFCON held in Mauritania last February.
Black Bull goalkeeper Kimsson Zavala (16) is the youngest player called the senior national team in the history of Mozambican football.
Portuguese coach Horácio Gonçalves justified his choices by restructuring the team, starting with the COSAFA tournament and the African Nations Championship (CHAN) campaign.
“This is a squad from the essentially Olympic national team (Under-23) and is a part of the process of integrating younger players into the senior national team. The idea is to do a continuous and gradual work for the renewal of our senior national team”, said Gonçalves.
